Everyone wants to look younger and have a healthy glow. But with every birthday we celebrate, we lose elasticity in our skin, causing it to wrinkle and sag. Once-glowing skin takes on a dull tone. Our mission at NOSI Skincare is to help people reverse the aging process with all-natural products that restore vitality to skin and make you look your best. Our on-going skincare research often focuses on collagen, the main structural protein found deep in the dermis layer of our skin. It tightens the surface, produces a healthy glow, and is responsible for shiny hair and strong nails. The body’s natural production of collagen slows as we get older. On top of that, stress and bad habits can destroy collagen and actually speed up the aging process. One of the best ways to reverse the aging process is to improve the absorption of topical products into the skin and stimulate collagen production. And one of the best ways to do that is by using the Derma Roller with 540 Micro Needles offered by NOSI Skincare.
Needle Sizes and Benefits
A derma roller with 540 Micro Needles is rolled over the face and creates small punctures in the skin. It comes with three different sized needle rollers, each with a different purpose, and each producing different results. The smallest roller has 0.25mm needles and will improve product absorption into the skin. Improved absorption means moisturizers and serums penetrate deeper, are more effective, and results can be seen quicker. Treatments can be done daily with no discomfort or bleeding. If you need to treat shallow wrinkles and scarring, plus get the benefits of increased product absorption, the roller with the 0.50mm needle size is perfect for you. These needles will penetrate the skin deeper and will actually stimulate mild collagen production, plus increase the absorption of topically applied products. Since there may be minor discomfort and bleeding after treatments, you will need to allow the skin to completely heal before another application. I recommend only one to two treatments each week. Over time, shallow wrinkles and minor scars will disappear. Even more collagen production will come from the roller with 1.0mm needles. That means deeper wrinkles and scarring from acne can be treated, but pin-point bleeding and a higher level of discomfort can occur. Use this roller only twice a month. Failure to let the skin fully heal after each treatment could result in scarring.
Prepare for a treatment by sterilizing the roller in alcohol for at least 10 minutes prior to use. Then wash your face with a mild cleanser, like the NOSI Skin Care Mandarin Acai Cleansing Creme. Start by selecting a portion of your face like the forehead, left or right cheek. Using very gentle pressure, roll in a three-point pattern, horizontally, vertically and diagonally 3-4 times in each direction. This stimulates blood circulation so your skin may appear red, like from a mild sunburn. Afterward, use the NOSI Skincare Jade Roller to cool and soothe the skin and promote product absorption. Any If any pin-point bleeding occurs, gently rise it away with warm water. Finally, sterilize the roller in alcohol for another 10 minutes after the treatment.
NOSI Skincare has several products perfectly formulated to help hydrate the skin and promote collagen production after a treatment. My NOSI Seaweed Serum with DMAE fights free radicals with a blend of natural vitamins and organic botanicals. The Citrus Smoothing Moisturizer is rich in Vitamin C and extracts derived from the tomato, tangerine, and hawthorn berry. Co-Enzyme Q10 Cranberry Crème contains DMAE cranberry seed oil to promote cell renewal and healing. These are the perfect products to use on your face at the end of the treatment because they contain collagen compounds that naturally heal and plump the skin, giving you a youthful glow. Use the NOSI Skin Care Neck and Décolleté Crème after treatments in those regions. After any treatment, pores are open and will absorb everything so use makeup and sunscreens sparingly.
Eat Collagen Boosting Foods
Along with the derma roller, eating a diet rich in collagen boosting foods can help create healthy looking skin. Vitamin C is an essential building block of collagen so make sure you are eating foods that contain it. Salads made with dark, leafy greens and plenty of veggies are a great way to get more vitamin C and other nutrients that produce collagen. Try a collagen-boosting salad for lunch or dinner. Combine baby spinach leaves or kale in a large bowl with shredded carrots, grape tomatoes, cucumber, and chopped orange peppers. Top with 4oz of grilled salmon or canned tuna. Sprinkle with sliced almonds and fresh blackberries. Then toss with my Citrus Vinaigrette. . .
Donna’s Citrus Vinaigrette
2 tsp Dijon Mustard
Dash of Salt and cracked black pepper
1 Tbls Lemon Balsamic Vinegar
1 Tbls fresh lime Juice
2 Tbls Olive oil
Whisk mustard, salt, pepper, vinegar and lime juice in a small bowl. Whisk steadily while
slowly adding the oil in a thin stream until mixture is thick and fully combined.
This delicious salad has all the vitamins and minerals need to boost collagen production and help firm and tone your skin!
Cut out Bad Habits
Bad habits like smoking and eating refined, white sugar can destroy collagen from within. If you are still smoking tobacco products, after all the Surgeon General’s warnings and documented links to fatal disease, STOP today. Nicotine reduces the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream and constricts veins raising blood pressure. Nicotine also robs skin of vital nutrients and leads to premature aging and skin thinning. Refined, white sugar increases inflammation that reduces the body’s ability to produce collagen. I can’t think of a single health benefit of tobacco or sugar consumption, so cutting down or eliminating them completely is the smart choice for anyone wanting to look and feel their best.
Everyone wants to look younger and have healthy, glowing skin. Stimulating the production of collagen by using the Derma Roller with 540 Micro Needles, eating a diet rich in Vitamin C and kicking bad habits of smoking and sugar to curb will put you on your way to looking and feeling your best, at any age. Inflammation is a condition that can seriously affect the look and feel of your skin and overall health. Persistent low-grade inflammation can be seen in your face through conditions like acne, rosacae, wrinkles and sagging skin. Unfortunately, the causes of inflammation are all around us. Poor diet, lack of sleep and stress all create internal inflammation. Externally, second hand smoke and sun exposure inflame the skin. Anyone who’s ever had a bad sunburn has experienced the redness and pain cause by it. Fortunately, there are some natural things can do, including using the Jade Roller from NOSI Skincare, to roll your way to great looking skin and lower inflammation.
The Jade Roller
Jades rollers have been around for centuries. These hand-held massage tools made from solid jade and are naturally cool to the touch. When used regularly, Jade rollers increase blood circulation and stimulate collagen production, decrease puffiness and under eye circles. It can even help with acne breakouts because the fluids below the skin move more freely and rid the body of waste and toxins.
Prepare your skin first!
A jade roller has a large stone on one end, a smaller stone on the other end. Roll your way to looking great and lower inflammation by making it part of your morning and evening skin care regimen. First, properly cleanse your face with NOSI Skincare's Mandarin Acai Cleansing cream. Then apply my Mandarin balancing toner, then use a serum like my Apple stem cell brightening serum which contains inflammation fighting ingredients like vitamin C, resveratrol, and turmeric followed by any of my moisturizers like the Citrus Smoothing Moisturizer. Finally, don’t forget about the Cucumber Peptide Eye Cream or Eye Remedy Microcirculation Treatment.
How to roll with it
Now its time to roll! The large stone is used on the cheeks, jaw and forehead while the smaller stone is used under the eyes and around the mouth. Apply gentle pressure rolling the tool from the center of your face in upward and outward motions. For the neck, use downward strokes. You can use it for about 3 to 5 minutes each time. Products absorb into the skin better and not on your pillowcase or bed linens. Using the roller is very relaxing and stress relieving, you will not only enjoy the treatment benefits but also the relaxation that comes with this device. If you want it extra cold, place the roller in the refrigerator or freezer and take it out just before using. They are easily cleaned with gentle soap and water.
Choose foods that lower inflammation.
Along with the jade roller, a focus on eating a healthier diet will make you feel better, lower inflammation and give you younger-looking skin. Avocados are a delicious and fight inflammation. Other inflammation fighting food include nuts, herbs such as basil, thyme, and oregano, green tea, onions, and beans. So, a little avocado toast and a cup of green tea can be a great way to start your day and fight inflammation at the same time! If you prefer your avocados in the afternoon with a margarita, here is my favorite and super-easy guacamole recipe.
Donna’s Chunky Guacamole
3 ripe Haas Avocados
1 vine ripe Tomato, diced
½ Red Onion, finely chopped
The juice from ½ lime
Salt and Pepper to taste
Method: Slice avocados and remove the seed. Scoop the flesh into a large, shallow bowl and using a knife in each hand, slice cross wise across, turn the bowl half way around and slice crosswise again. Keep slicing cross wise and turning the bowl until you have bite-sized chunks. Fold in the tomato, red onion, and lime juice using a rubber spatula and season to taste. If the guacamole is too thick, thin by adding more lime juice, one teaspoon at a time. Serve with tortilla chips and fresh vegetables.
Foods known for their collagen boosting properties include red veggies such as tomatoes, peppers, and beets and dark green veggies such as spinach and kale, blueberries, white tea and all protein sources like beef, chicken and seafood. For a double whammy, some foods that boost collagen and reduce inflammation at the same time! Included in this group are fish, citrus fruits like oranges and lemons, and garlic. Why not grill some locally caught grouper topped with a lemon-garlic butter to dinner tonight!
Get some Exercise, then Take a Nap!
Getting more exercise and better sleep are two ways to combat inflammation. There have been lots of sleep studies and the benefits of consistent sleep are well documented. I wrote about one such study recently in blog, “Seaweed Serum and Skin Care Tips to Fight Aging Now”. I recommend getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night, going to bed at the same time to set your internal clock and get better quality sleep.
Inflammation is something everyone experiences at some point. I always turn to natural remedies like my Jade Roller, incorporating more anti-inflammatory foods into my diet, concentrating on my exercise regimen and focusing on getting enough sleep. When you do the same, your will lower your inflammation, feel better and enjoy the youthful glow of healthy skin again!
